Nancy Walker of LaCrosse, Kansas poses with the #24 jalopy owned by Vernon Schrater and driven by Bernie Beydler, and the #14 jalopy owned and driven by Ferrill Curtis.  Walker had just won a prelimanary pageant at Dodge City, Kansas and was to be a contestant for the national title of Miss Jalopy of America of 1959 in a pageant to be held at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas in July of that year - Schrater family collection
