Rex Woodward was hot on D. A. Clem’s heels at the halfway point in the A feature when they came up to lap a slower car. Clem hesitated and Woodward’s Ford ran up and over Clem’s machine did a complete flip in the air before landing on its wheels and then crashing through a high board fence before a dazed Woodward could get it stopped. Woodward was uninjured while Clem suffered a severely lacerated hand in the melee. Clem completed the race and then drove himself to the hospital to get his hand stitched up. |
