* D. A. Clem’s midget broke a drive chain while leading the heat race so he was given a police motorcycle escort across Wichita to his shop to retrieve another one.  He returned to the racetrack in time to make repairs and start the feature race but the new drive chain also broke while he was leading that event.

** The results of the heat races are unknown as they were not published in the local newspaper.
