            The air was cold and mist fell throughout the evening.  Many of the spectators watched from their cars while keeping their heaters running.

          A wheel came off of Murphy’s car, leaped a “restraining wire” and bounced into a brand new Chevrolet belonging to Tommy Thompson, the local Chevrolet dealer.  The tire damaged the front end of Thompson’s car.
