Les Suter

Les Suter can be seen above seated in the #22 Chevrolet track hot rod that he raced at Oakley, Kansas in 1950.  This car was owned by brothers Cloyd and Emmett Ricketts of Winona, Kansas.  It was powered by a six-cylinder Chevrolet OHV engine built by the Wayne Manufacturing Company in California.  It developed 248 H.P. at 5,000 r.p.m. on alcohol with 12½ to one compression.   It utalized three Stromberg BXOV2 carburetors and a Mallory two-point distributor.  The car had a 98½ inch wheelbase, a Ύ - ton Chevrolet truck differential, Stelling gear box, and a Franklin steering gear.  Click your mouse on this photograph to see a different view of the car – Cloyd Ricketts collection
