James Robert “Jake” Betts

1924 - 1999

The man in the foreground of this photo is unidentified but the man behind him is Jake Betts of Oberlin, Kansas.  The hot rod was owned by Royal Fisher also of Oberlin, and sponsored by the Kump Motor Company of Oberlin.  Betts was the usual driver although Bud Manning of Oakley, Kansas was assigned to drive it at Oakley, Kansas on August 8, 1950.  Please contact Bob Lawrence if you can identify the other man in this photo – Punch Lemburg collection as published in the book Roaring Roadsters #2 by Don Radbruch
