1Willard Victory “Mickey” McCormick (1920-1999) was driving with a broken leg suffered in a racing accident eight days earlier at Oberlin, KS. The car was heavily damaged in that accident but was repaired in time for the races at Oakley.
2Lloyd Walinder was uninjured when his car slid off of the #1 (south) turn and rolled during the Australian Pursuit.
3This win established Bud Manning and his car owner, Arnold “Blank” Blankenburg, as both the point leader and the high money winner in the High Plains Racing Association for the 1951 racing season. Manning went on to win feature races the next two days at Norton, KS giving the dual a big lead in both categories.
