Micro Midgets Raced At
77 Speedway
Arkansas City, Kansas
In the 1950s
Micro midgets were added as support races to the jalopy racing program at 77 Speedway in 1957. Most of the drivers were adult men and they raced on the ⅓ mile dirt oval. They also raced on an one tenth mile dirt oval at the Eastern Cowley County Fairgrounds at Burden, Kansas; on a similar sized racetrack around the the baseball field at City Baseball Park in Arkansas City, Kansas; and at the 37th Street Speedway in Wichita. These little cars were quite popular in the area for a time.
