J. D. Erskin

Shields, Kansas

Erskin’s car slid into the infield near the southwest turn on the 25th lap striking two men.  Both spectators received serious leg injuries.  While the race was stopped for that incident, four other people were also treated for heat exhaustion while one man apparently suffered a mild heart attack.
