Lebsack easily outdistanced the field.  He went into most every turn with his throttle half-closed although he did take the south turn under full throttle twice just to show the spectators that he could do it.  Lebsack’s Ford powered Kerbs Special was owned by Leonard Kerbs of Otis, Kansas.

Culbertson lost a tire and spun out in the south turn on the 20th lap.  He replaced the tire and rejoined the race one lap behind only to suffer a broken axle.

Lentz and Rayl were competing bitterly for second place when Rayl skidded on the 26th lap and took out a section of the inside fence.  Just seconds later, Culbertson avoided damage to his car when he skidded through the same hole in the fence.

Lee Phillips of Hutchinson, Kansas suffered serious injuries in a novelty side-car race causing the remainder of that event to be canceled.
