Norman Horn had won the second heat race driving a 1949 Packard but an old leg injury was bothering him so he turned the car over to Roper who won the feature race driving Horn’s car.

Ware had lapped every other car in the field when he crashed through the inside railing on the 48th lap slightly damaging the Johnny-Sutton-owned Hudson he was driving.
