Copeland started outside of the front row.

At one point, Ross was running in second place but fell back to seventh place by the finish.

Max Kelton Madison, Sr.

1923 - 1967

 

Max, a former driver and racetrack official, played Peanuts the Clown at racetracks around Kansas for many years entertaining the crowd between races.  He died of accidental asphyxiation and is buried in the Maple Grove cemetery in Dodge City, Kansas – McCoy collection
