Bill Bryant had led for more than half of this race when Leon Duray moved up from third place to take the lead with just two laps remaining. Lentz was only 40 feet out of the lead at the finish as the front four cars crossed the finish line very close together.
Leon Duray had his name legally changed to Leon Duray from George Stewart.
Both Leon Duray (1894-1956) and Fred Lecklider (1895-1964) have competed in the Indianapolis 500.
