Houdek (probably Dick Houdek rather than Johnny Houdek as named in the newspaper) ran in second place behind South for 69 laps before breaking a front spindle and crashing into the south fence.

Pulling away after a pit stop, Munsinger’s 1955 Buick Century struck the car’s owner, Austin Wetzler alias “Tex West” of Junction City, Kansas.  Wetzler was treated at the hospital for cuts to his shoulder.

“Led Foot” Bolton got his nickname from his tendency to drive around the racetrack just fast enough to pick up finishing money and any tow money that the promoter might be paying.

South led all the way finishing two laps ahead of the second place finisher.
