            Endicott named his car the “Rahe Special” in honor of the Rahe Automotive School in Kansas City where he had “done the work of overhauling” the car.

            Endicott took the lead on the 20th lap from Leon Duray who had to pull into the pits to add water.  Endicott then held off Ellingboe in a close race to the finish.

Endicott beat Ellingboe to the finish line by no more than the width of a radiator.

Leon Duray was an alias used by George Stewart.

Bill Endicott (1876-1944), Jules Ellilngboe (1892-1948), and Leon Duray (1894-1956) have all three competed in the Indianapolis “500”.
