Curry spun out on the north turn on the second lap and his car was struck by that driven by Lutkie.  Curry’s car was damaged too much to continue but Lutkie was able to restart only to crash in into the outside fence in the first (south) turn.  His steering had apparently been damaged in the first incident.

Hellmueller spun out on the north turn on the 12th lap.

Reed’s Mercury powered sprint car lost a rear wheel on the front straight-away on the 16the lap.  The wheel jumped the fence in the south turn and struck two parked cars.

Pouelson pressed Jordan all the way even monetarily taking the lead on the 17th lap but the rim-riding Jordan reassumed the lead and won by two car lengths.
