Harold Bell of Kansas City, Missouri is pictured above in the Hall-Scott Special.  This is believed to be one of about ten front-wheel-drive cars built in the early 1920s by Benjamin F. Gregory (1889-1974) who was also from Kansas City, Missouri.  The Hall-Scott Special was powered by a water cooled Hall–Scott aircraft engine like the one seen at right.  Note the engine’s distinctive oil pan.  In an airplane, the engine’s power went to the propeller in front so a front-wheel-drive system was fashioned for the car.  Click your mouse on the photo at right to see a larger version of that photo - Mike Cline collection
