This photo of Tom Lutkie of Wichita, Kansas was taken at “81” Speedway north of Wichita.  Tom raced this white over blue 1955 Chevrolet with yellow numbers at Winfield, Kansas on July 12, 1970 finishing in sixth place in his heat race and was credited with finishing in eleventh place in the consolation race after dropping out on lap six of that ten-lap event with mechanical trouble.  Tom returned to race at Winfield on July 25, 1971 finishing in seventh place in his heat race, second in the consolation race, and then working his way forward from the sixteenth starting position to finish second behind Gary Moore in the 20-lap feature.  That feature race turned out the be the last ever automobile race to be run at the Cowley County Fairgrounds – Steve Lutkie collection
