Ernie McCoy, right, of Arkansas City, Kansas drove this 1934 Ford coupe owned by Lawrence Brooks, left, also of Arkansas City – Gary Virden collection

Lawrence Brooks can be seen standing in front of his white "8 Ball" Ford coupe having his picture taken by a photographer out of this picture, on the front straightaway of the Winfield racetrack.  Click your mouse on the photograph to see a different view of the incident from the Larry Brooks collection.

The car directly behind the "8 Ball" is #83 and the car to the right rear of that car is #29 which was driven by Dick Doran.  That coupe was owned by Jack Walker and M. B. "Junior" Smith – Ernie McCoy collection

Lawrence Brooks' white 1934 Ford coupe "8 Ball" can been seen in the center of this photo of the south end of the infield of the Winfield racetrack in the early 1950s.
The number on the 1940 Ford sedan just to the right of the "8 Ball" is “¼ - 8”.

Cliff Durr

The number below the back window of the light over dark colored sedan seen above the “¼ - 8” car is “39”.  The “39” car was owned by Cliff Durr and sometimes driven by Bill Mears.  There is a close-up photograph of Durr’s car here with Bill Mears standing beside it.

Car number “28” was a 1934 Ford coupe.
The number on the white trunk of the coupe with the dark top on the right side of this photo is one of “90”, “95”, or “98”.  The original photo is not clear enough to tell for certain.
If anyone knows who owned or drove any of the stock cars pictured here, please contact
Bob Lawrence.
The street rod, shown here on the race track, was a red 1932 Ford coupe built by Ernie McCoy, of Arkansas City, Kansas in the early 1950s and is believed to currently be owned by someone in Newkirk, Oklahoma
