This car was originally built for Harry Hartz but almost immediately snapped up by the Sampson/Meyer stable.  Reportedly equipped with a water-cooled supercharger, both Ralph de Palma and Dave Evans practiced in it at Indy in 1929 before Phil Pardee easily qualified only to crash the day before the race.
